It’s Yogi Bhajan’s Birthday!

Share

Every year the global Kundalini Yoga community comes together for 11 days leading up to Yogi Bhajan’s birthday on 26th August, to chant together in gratitude for all the priceless teachings he shared with us. From 15 – 26 August you can join in on the celebrations too!

This is the second year our NSW Kundalini Yoga community has come together with our students, friends and family to open our homes, yoga spaces and spiritual places to chant Guru Guru Wahe Guru, Guru Ram Das Guru for 31 minutes each day. This was Yogi Bhajan’s personal mantra and is chanted for 11 days across the global Kundalini community in connecting with the spirit of Yogi Bhajan, and offering thanks for all the blessings he so generously shared with us.

In addition to the 31 minutes of chanting, the 11 day celebrations include Gong and bowl healing, kriyas and meditations, life drawing and of course food! Saturday 23rd August is an extra special event featuring an all night Puja – we start with a class and the 31 minutes of chanting, followed by sharing a meal together. Then it’s time to get rugged up and comfy on the mat to relax with the healing sounds of the gong, until morning when we rise up for sadhana together. All of this will be happening in the scenic and healing surrounds of the lower Blue Mountains. What an awesome way to bliss out your weekend!

On August 26 we mark the end of the celebrations and Yogi Bhajan’s birthday anniversary by chanting Long Ek Ong Kars for 2.5 hours. Yes, it is a long time, and it really helps if you can chant with a group. If you haven’t experienced this sadhana before, here is your perfect opportunity.

Check out the full schedule of Yogi Bhajan’s birthday events happening near you on our community events page. We look forward to celebrating with you!
